My name is Alexander Muse and I am a serial entrepreneur with more than a decade of startup experience. My day job is running CultureMap, an online media company I co-founded with Robert Bennett last year. StartupMuse is my blog where I write about startups, investing and entrepreneurship.
In 2011 I transitioned from CEO to Executive Chairman of ShopSavvy, the mobile shopping application I co-founded in 2008. Prior to ShopSavvy I co-founded a social video sharing website called Fancast, ultimately selling the social web property to Comcast Interactive. Before that I co-founded Architel, the largest cloud management company in North Texas. My partner and I started the company in 2001 to help Fortune 1000 companies bring their IT operations into the cloud. I started my first notable startup in 1999 called LayerOne, a neutral interconnection and colocation company that was sold in 2003 to Switch & Data (now called Equinix).
I speak at conferences and universities in the United States and Europe on topics ranging from entrepreneurship to mobile commerce. I’ve had the honor to speak at the French Senate in Paris and to audiences in Bangalore, Barcelona, Hamburg, Amsterdam and London.
Finally, I am involved with various community and philanthropic efforts including the Boy Scouts of America, Buckner International, Chiapas International, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, the Toys for Tots Foundation, YPO and Wilshire Baptist Church.
