What a ride. We started ShopSavvy at the cusp of the mobile app revolution back in 2008 (the company was called Big in Japan at the time). In fact, ShopSavvy was one of the first ten applications available for Google’s Android phone and winner of the first Android Developer Challenge. Scott Ryan and I bootstrapped the company for the first three years almost selling the company to Yahoo and Nextag. When those deals failed to close we raised $5M from various investors including Eduardo Saverin. I ran the company for another year after the funding doubling the revenue and downloads. At the end of that year, I was “promoted” to chairman (which feels a lot like getting fired by the way). Over the following year the team worked tirelessly to reinvent the application ultimately convincing Purch to acquire ShopSavvy. Thanks to everyone for all your help and support over the years – we really do appreciate it all!
